GUERNSEY has been crowned European captive domicile of the year at the UK Captive Services Awards.

And locally-based companies swept up many of the sector awards at the inaugural ceremony, which formed part of the Captive Live UK 2013 Conference last week.

Aon, Bedell Cristin, BWCI, Igloo Insurance PCC Ltd, JLT Group, Robus Group and Royal London Asset Management all picked up awards on the evening. And Alan Fleming, a former director of insurance at the Guernsey Financial Services Commission, was recognised for his outstanding contribution to the industry.

The awards, presented by Andrew Wilson of Sky News, recognised excellence in the delivery and management of captive insurance and celebrated those who have excelled in the last year.

Guernsey was named European captive domicile of the year ahead of other shortlisted jurisdictions – Dublin, Gibraltar, Luxembourg and Malta.
