MOBILE money could become big business for Guernsey.

The Commerce and Employment Department has set up a working group and consulted about the issues around developing mobile money opportunities in the island.

Minister Kevin Stewart, pictured, is personally involved and enthusiastic about the possibilities.

‘There are some people interested in looking at setting up mobile money applications. We’ve set up a working group to look at ways of facilitating that in Guernsey,’ he said.

Deputy Stewart said that there was a clear crossover between his much-vaunted ICT strategy and diversification of the financial services industry.

My money is very mobile. It walks out of my wallet to become the wife's latest shoes.

And now we have a 'working group' on 'mobile applications. That could be useful when and if they act, even if a little late in the day!
