ONE of the UK’s leading fintech investment propositions has offered advice to key figures in Guernsey’s fintech offering during a visit to the island.
James Sore, pictured, chief investment officer at Syndicate Room, an online equity crowdfunding platform, came to Guernsey to speak at an event organised by StartUp Guernsey.
He also spoke separately over lunch to a dozen fintech principals and advisers.
Syndicate Room is one of the UK’s biggest success stories in fintech, and last month collected two accolades at the UK’s Growth Investor Awards, where it was named best investment platform for a second year and also ‘industry game-changer’.
The judges were impressed by its ‘democratic philosophy’ and innovations, including a fund tie up with the London Stock Exchange to give retail investors access to IPOs.
Syndicate Room allows its members to co-invest in high-growth companies alongside experienced investors, including some of the UK’s most prominent business angels, and does not charge them a penny for doing so – ‘it’s free for our investors as they’re doing all the work,’ said Mr Sore.
It makes its money from the companies seeking investment.
