BLUE Islands is stopping its Paris route. The direct flight from Guernsey to Paris-Beauvais Airport, the capital's third largest, only started at the end of March.

Since then, Flybe has announced it will fly direct to the city's main airport, Charles de Gaulle, from Friday 11 July. Blue Islands will stop its service two days before that.

Chairman Derek Coates, pictured, said: 'We continue to explore other routes that meet our strategic goal of being the Channel Islands' favourite airline, linking the financial centres of Europe.'

The airline had been using a 19-seater Jetstream aircraft on the route. But according to a statement it released, Beauvais has a preference for aircraft with more than 100 seats.
