CONDOR'S early morning sailing from Weymouth was handled by harbour staff. But it looks unlikely that cars will be unloaded from any other sailings today.

Harbour master Captain Peter Gill, said that the staff had agreed to handle the vessel because it was at sea when the action was called. He said the action wouldn't affect passenger-only vessels. He said it would be a decision for Condor as to whether it operated further sailings on a foot-passenger--only basis.

Some 40 passengers waiting to board Condor Express for Jersey were left waiting outside a locked passenger terminal while the decision was made on whether the boat would come here or not this morning.

Harbour staff held a meeting at 8. At 8.35, 15 minutes before the boat was due to arrive, the doors were unlocked and passengers were let through.
