RESIDENTS are divided over how effective new traffic plans will be for Baubigny and Les Gigands. Raised boxes are to be built at the junctions between Les Gigands and La Rue de l'Epinelle and Baubigny and Bordage roads. It is hoped they will slow traffic.

Residents Frank and Esme Marquis have lived in Baubigny Road for more than 50 years. We've been here a long time,' said Mr Marquis. 'We've seen a lot of things. When the packing sheds were down the road, we used to have Condor lorries along here and the roads coped then.'

The couple has been frustrated by events following initial consultations with the States, which took place two years ago. 'Look at the schools down at Capelles and the problems there are there. Imagine what it will be like here... No one listens. It's all up in the air and no one knows what is happening – they're just fumbling their way through.'

Norma Brassell and her grown-up daughter, Julie Creed, have lived in Baubigny Road for two years. While they feel the plans are a good idea, they are not sure how it will affect residents. 'It will be good for the children but it will be difficult for us,' said Mrs Creed.
