NOW it is time for all the island's States schools to reach the same standard, said Education minister Carol Steere at the start of the first full day at the Baubigny schools yesterday.

Deputy Steere (pictured) said words could not describe how happy she was with the new build.

'I'm absolutely thrilled that it is finally open. I think it is a marvellous achievement – for the students and for the north of the island,' she said.

She said she was now desperate to replicate the success at La Mare de Carteret and Les Beaucamps schools. 'It's what the island's population deserves,' she said.

Deputy Steere said she was now looking forward to getting feedback from pupils and staff about how the schools operate on a day-to-day basis and using that information for the next projects in the redevelopment programme.
