FRIDAY was Big Kids' Day.

The annual event gives islanders the opportunity to raise money for the local charity, Help a Guernsey Child.

Loads of fund-raising activities took place across the island, including at Barbados Beach Club in Town.

The staff wore fancy dress for the occasion and teamed up with Island FM for the evening to raise as much cash as possible.

'It was a great night,' said manager Adam Burroughs.

'It was a full house and for the last hour we had to operate a one-in, one-out system.'

As well as the money raised from the evening, £100 was donated on behalf of Adam and Howard Holland.

'Island FM do a great job each year raising money for the charity,' said Adam.

'It's such a worthy cause and we were happy to be a part of the fund-raising. I want to thank all our customers for their support and generosity in donating to the charity all night, and well done to all at Island FM.'

Barbados staff were not the only ones fund-raising – this year's main event was a 'quacker duck race'. It attracted lots of islanders to get involved and adopt a duck for £3.

Around 300 yellow rubber ones raced across the bathing pools. Island FM had been selling them through the station and online.

Due to the massive response from the public, the station had trouble knowing the exact number of ducks adopted.

So far more than £8,000 has been raised from this year's Big Kids' Day, but the donations are still coming in and being counted.

Send all donations to Island FM reception.
