A DRUNKEN man wearing steel toe-capped boots twice kicked in the head a man lying on the ground outside a Town nightclub, the Royal Court heard yesterday.

Martin Worman, 44, was sent to prison for a total of two years and eight months after he admitted assault and breaching his bail conditions.

Judge Russell Finch (pictured) said the attack on Neil Elkington was in the very top bracket for the offence of assault.

'Putting the boot in like this to somebody on the ground is rightly compared to using an offensive weapon,' he said.

'You went in hard, unnecessarily and very violently. Use of drink and medication is no excuse for this sort of behaviour.'
