WAITROSE has finalised its purchase of Safeway for £23.9m.

The sale price of the Rohais store emerged this week as the monthly conveyances were published. It is understood details of the UK retail giant's purchase of Checkers at Admiral Park will be revealed in next month's figures.

Waitrose announced in June that it was buying the two stores from Sandpiper. It promised to create 100 more local jobs through the deal and has met prospective suppliers.

The Safeway sale price is the second-highest recorded in Guernsey. It included the business and the property freehold.
