Own up or face prosecution is tax choice

A THREE-MONTH amnesty is being offered to islanders who have tried to evade paying income tax or not disclosed the right information.

A THREE-MONTH amnesty is being offered to islanders who have tried to evade paying income tax or not disclosed the right information.

The income tax irregularities scheme will start on 1 January and any individual or business will be able to set their affairs in order without the threat of penalties or prosecution.

The scheme is open to everyone and will not target one area or group of people.

Director of income tax Rob Gray (pictured)said that his ability to investigate suspected tax evasion had increased over the last few years because more intelligence was available through third parties, tax information exchange agreements, the police and the Guernsey Border Agency.
