A 65-YEAR-OLD woman and her civil servant daughter were each ordered to serve 100 hours' community service after admitting conspiring to defraud the Housing Department.

The Magistrate's Court was told that Florence Le Huray switched money to the bank account of her daughter, Angela Page, 40, in an attempt to hide how much she had in her account so that she would not lose her States house.

In court, both women admitted conspiring to defraud Housing. Le Huray pleaded guilty to two further charges of making false statements to Housing.

Advocate David Domaille, for Le Huray, said that his client was extremely apologetic. He said that she had detached herself from the money, which was to be left to her children.

Advocate Chris Green said Page had viewed the money as an inheritance and wanted to help her mother out of a tight situation.
