A SPATE of sign thefts has left local businesses out of pocket.

Traffic and business hoardings, as well as planning notices, have all been stolen over the past few months.

Peter Adam, owner of Chateau des Tielles nursing home, was on the receiving end of this when someone stole four tradesmen's signs from the Torteval property, as well as a planning application notice. Mr Adam only discovered the theft when a planning officer asked where his sign was.

However, when he was walking his dogs on the Pleinmont cliffs a few weeks later, he discovered his signs tossed into the gorse, along with more than 40 others.
