FINAL preparations are under way for the Carey Olsen Inter-Island Yacht Race as many Channel Islands' sailors get ready for the biggest race of the year.

Scheduled to start at 0800 hours on Saturday morning in St Aubin's Bay, the event will see around 90 yachts racing along Jersey's coast to Corbiere before crossing to Guernsey and the finish line at Castle Cornet in St Peter Port.

Unlike the last two years, advance forecasts are suggesting that there could be enough wind for a good day's sailing.

Entries include two UK-registered boats and several former winners.
