Aztec Gold achieves main aim of reaching the finish

GUERNSEY sailor Clive Le Tissier enjoyed the experience of a lifetime after pitting his wits against triple-Olympic champion Ben Ainslie at the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race.

GUERNSEY sailor Clive Le Tissier enjoyed the experience of a lifetime after pitting his wits against triple-Olympic champion Ben Ainslie at the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race.

The 53-year-old-year-old skippered Aztec Gold and joined a record entry of 1,908 boats and 16,000 competitors contesting the 55-mile course around the Isle of Wight - on the 80th anniversary of the race.

The Forest resident, who was joined by St Saviour's Tim Roussel on the water, admitted that for his first time competing, the race had exceeded all expectations.

'Really it was Tim's idea to enter the race, but I'm so pleased that we did,' said Le Tissier.
