POLICE are trying to find out who took and damaged a fibreglass animal displayed as part of Donkey Parade, a charitable art project.

It was ripped from its plinth outside Trafalgar Court, Admiral Park, and found in nearby First Tower Lane, St Peter Port.

The Crime Prevention Panel has offered a £200 reward for information leading to the conviction of those responsible.

Inspector Trevor Coleman said some might refer to the incident as 'high jinx', but it was mean-spirited and, depending on the circumstances, could result in a prosecution for theft or criminal damage.
