WAITROSE is working with and assisting fish supplier Seafresh to get local shellfish stocked in its stores.

The supermarket has sold Seafresh fish on the counters of its Guernsey and Jersey branches since it opened but had also been keen to sell Channel Island-cooked brown crab and lobster, which it now does.

Waitrose's support for Seafresh has included investment in specialist equipment, technical support and the help of a qualified consultant.

One of the pieces of machinery the supermarket has invested in is a device that ensures crabs and lobsters are killed as humanely as possible.
