Burnt Lane residents who put rubbish out on the wrong day are endangering others, says Health and Social Services.

The steps and alleyways of the area are covered with bin bags that get ripped open by animals - prompting pupils at Notre Dame du Rosaire Primary to ask the constables to install CCTV cameras to catch the culprits.

An HSSD spokesman said some residents put out binsacks 'without regard to the actual day of collection or how long they will sit on the street.

'There are health risks associated with some kinds of refuse and accident risks associated with items such as broken glass.'
