Winner's name apt in challenging race

GLORY DAYS lived up to its name in winning the sixth race of the Nashcopy Passage Race Series on handicap, having crossed the line in fourth place.

Eight boats made the start line at the Royal Channel Islands Yacht Club-hosted event.

After a summer season of indifferent weather, competitors were met by light, sunny conditions – a stark contrast to the previous race around Les Dents near Sark two weeks' earlier where boats raced in force seven conditions.

It was always in doubt whether the race fleet would make it around the course with tight tidal gates around the north of the island. Skippers were instructed to give their time when they reached Platte Fougere and Hanois Lighthouses in order to ensure a result.
