A PLANNING application has been made to house temporarily up to 150 workers from the forthcoming Airport development on land near The Mallard Complex.

The Public Services Department's application includes measures that will be put in place to minimise the risk of disruption to neighbours.

The project, to carry out essential maintenance and improvements to the runway, aprons and approaches at Guernsey Airport is expected to take two years and dozens of specialist staff will be involved.

The department said that although the compound would have space for all staff required at the peak of construction next year, contractor Lagan Construction still planned to recruit locally as well. This would reduce the requirement to bring in workers and house them in temporary accommodation.
