Mixed response to suggestion of a pedestrianised Le Pollet

COMPLETELY closing Le Pollet to cars would be a nightmare for Cook, the shop's owner said yesterday.

Nigel Lough (pictured) said if the road was pedestrianised, his delivery men would be unable to get through without an allocated time slot.

'If it was blocked off, it would be a nightmare.

'I can't see what the benefit would be – it's not prime high street. I wouldn't have thought there is enough footfall to justify it.'

The Environment Department made the suggestion among the multiple options it has put forward to improve the island's transport system.
