MONEY to maintain Guernsey's church buildings should continue to come from islanders, the new Bishop of Winchester has said on his first official visit to the island.

Bishop-designate Tim Dakin spent yesterday meeting local reverends. He is scheduled to fly to Jersey this morning.

'It has been a great day and I have been meeting with lots of lovely people,' he said.

During his visit, the Bishop-designate came out in support of the way in which Guernsey funds its churches.
