Cargo ship adrift off Guernsey

A 185-METRE long cargo vessel was adrift 20 miles west-northwest of Guernsey this morning.

A 185-METRE long cargo vessel was adrift 20 miles west-northwest of Guernsey this morning.

Harbour master Peter Gill said that if a tow was not established with the Antiguan registered Federal Miramichi, which is carrying 20,000 tonnes of fertiliser, it would head towards the island.

It broke down yesterday afternoon.

LATEST NEWS - A French tug established a tow with the vessel this afternoon, and headed for Cherbourg.
