A PARANOID schizophrenic man who punched a police officer in the mouth loosening some of his teeth was remanded in custody in the Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Brian Clancy, 51, of 51, Hougue a la Perre, Grand Bouet, St Peter Port, admitted two counts of assaulting police and one of behaving in a disorderly manner.

He will be sentenced after probation and psychiatric reports have been prepared.

Making a bail application, Advocate Clare Tee said her client had mental health issues and argued that remanding him in custody would not help.

But Judge Robey denied bail and remanded Clancy in custody until sentencing on 6 February.
