Boley Smillie said yesterday that many were trying hard to remain in the island but they would eventually make their move based on what was right for the business.

The Channel Islands are due to go to the High Court to challenge HM Treasury's ruling to scrap VAT relief on cheap goods shipped from Guernsey and Jersey in around three weeks' time.

Healthspan has already announced that it will lay off 26 staff at its warehouse in Pitronnerie Road if the legal bid is dismissed.
