GUERNSEY newsagents have faced 'the month from hell' as their shelves and vans were empty again of national papers this morning.

The first of a series of two-day airport closures began last night while work on the runway is carried out.

At 8.30 last night workers were gathered at the airport and the area was lit up with headlights and spotlights.

The closure came on top of numerous fog days over the past few weeks, when papers did not get to the island.

Tozer's Newsagents has taken extra copies of the Guernsey Press, which contains more international news and sports coverage today.
