ISLANDERS had an opportunity yesterday to find out more about the potential for macro marine renewable energy in Guernsey.

The Renewable Energy Team and the Commerce and Employment Department are charged with progressing the investigation into offshore wind, wave, and tidal power, so that the island can take advantage of the right type of technology at the right time.

RET policy adviser renewables Mat Desforges said the response from people attending the open day at Beau Sejour had been 'pretty positive'.

'We've had a good number of people who've turned up who are generally behind the project and we've had feedback which we will go through later.

'But anecdotally, it's been pretty supportive.'
