DOOR KNOCKING is still an essential part of election campaigning, St Peter Port North residents have said.

Manifestos have been posted and so far two districts have held hustings in the build-up to the ballot on 18 April.

But many voters are yet to get a knock on their door from many aspiring deputies to discuss election issues on a one-to-one basis.

L'Hyvreuse Avenue resident Brian Mabire, 71, who has lived in the parish for 32 years, said that so far only five candidates had made the rounds in his neighbourhood - he considered that to be a record.
