FORMER champion boxer Gage Demore has been fined £700 for threatening and abusive behaviour following a brawl on New Year's Eve.

The 18-year-old, who was once a junior England lightweight champion, admitted the offence, which happened outside the Mariners Inn on the Bridge in the early hours of 1 January.

The Magistrate's Court heard how Demore had attended a New Year's Eve party at the pub and became involved in a scuffle with another person.

He was asked to leave by both the pub landlady and the landlord. They showed him outside and locked the door.

CCTV shows Mr Demore kicking out at the door 13 times. Eventually, the door opened and people spilled out into the street. Crown Advocate Chris Dunford said Demore was pushed and during the incident he received head injuries.
