A STATES-EMPLOYED carer who burgled an elderly, disabled woman's home as she lay asleep in bed was yesterday sent to prison for 10 months.

Heavily pregnant Nina Dodd denied the offence until shown images from a covert camera in the 89-year-old's kitchen. She then admitted burglary when she appeared in the Magistrate's Court.

CCTV footage showed that, at 11pm on 30 April, Dodd, of Flat 7, St David's Court, Collings Road, St Peter Port, entered using a key from a safe, to which she knew the code, and searched a kitchen drawer by torchlight.

When arrested, Dodd denied having been at the property since March, but she eventually admitted responsibility and told police she had taken about £28 to pay for baby clothes she had ordered.
