HEALTH and Social Services needs to find more than £9m. in savings during the next three years if it is to remain within budget, its minister has confirmed.

And some services that 'will not impact life expectancy' - such as cosmetic surgery - might have to be cut from the department's offering if it is to achieve the target.

Deputy Hunter Adam and HSSD chief officer Mark Cooke spoke to the Guernsey Press about the department's plans to fulfil its obligations under the Financial Transformation Programme - the States-wide savings initiative.

They warned it would be difficult for the department to maintain its recent cost-cutting success - the department's total spend has remained relatively static over the last three years.
