VAZON beach would benefit from summer lifeguard patrols, says the manager of Guernsey Surf School.

Steve Hardy, 37, said virtually every bay in the world that had waves and watersports had lifeguards and Guernsey was out of step.

'The school gets busier by the year and then you have the wind surfers, kite surfers and board surfers too,' he said.

Up to 60 people have been seen surfing at one time and numbers are growing.

Mr Hardy said he had raised the matter with both the Environment and Education departments but nothing seemed to have happened.
