GUERNSEY Festivalgoers have praised the work of the organisers – calling it the 'best music event' they have been to.

More than 5,000 people attended the two-day festival at the Rabbit Warren and campers packing up yesterday morning said they hoped it would return for its third year.

Lucie Galt, from Scotland, had set up a stall at the festival selling copper and zinc bands for the Band 4 Hope project. She said she purposely wanted to come to Guernsey Festival because of its size.

'I think a lot of people from the mainland like to come to Guernsey Festival because they can get closer to the bands and it is a much more intimate concert.'

  • The organisers said over the weekend that, although it had been a great success, the future of the festival was uncertain. Paul Stephen said he and his brother Jon would have to look at the books over the coming weeks to see if the event had broken even. If it had not, he said they would need to question whether the event was too big for Guernsey.
