SUNDAY trading will not be back on the political agenda in the next few years, the new Commerce and Employment Department has decided - because members fear that they cannot get it right.

The new department, under minister Deputy Kevin Stewart, pictured, has reversed the previous board's decision to consult on a wider relaxation of Sunday trading laws.

It said that 'this was an issue which would always divide the community and that would never be resolved to please a majority'.

Last May a local survey from Island Analysis revealed that 63% of islanders were in favour of relaxing Sunday trading further.
