Oatlands neighbours say they will object to a large wooden entertainment tent at an open planning meeting today although planners have recommended its approval.

They expressed concerns of increased noise and traffic and said it looked like a 'tacky fairground', so would be making a representation at the meeting.

The 1920s Belgian attraction, used for entertainment, functions and displays, has been up since May and its owner, Oatlands Holdings Ltd, submitted a retrospective planning application.

Environment previously turned down a request for the spiegel tent because of the loss of open and undeveloped land as well as on the grounds of increased noise and disturbance.

However, planning officers said the new application put the feature in a different position, moving it away from residential areas and therefore reducing the potential noise impact.
