NEARLY 400 signatures have been collected on a petition objecting to controversial plans for a new museum and equestrian centre in St Sampson's.

Oatlands Holdings Ltd has applied to convert Oatlands and Les Gigands vineries into the new attractions.

Sarah Flouquet's home backs onto the field that could become an outdoor equestrian arena and has been organising a petition to fight the plans.

'We got 379 signatures,' she said. 'This may not sound like many, but we only covered an area of no more than a quarter-mile radius.'

The petition will be handed to Environment deputy minister Tony Spruce in the next few days.
