TASTE Guernsey's first food festival got off to a flying start yesterday, with many sessions packed with people.

The three-day event kicked off with a tour of the dairy and was followed by cooking demonstrations in a Market Square tent throughout the day.

Taste Guernsey chairman Tony Leck said the tent was full for the first session, at which College of Further Education tutor Paul Wilson showed off his cooking skills.

'It is lovely to see people coming in and enjoying it,' he said. 'We have been tremendously lucky with the weather. This has been a great chance to showcase local produce.'
