STUDENTS are taking more pride in their appearance thanks to new uniforms, a head teacher has said.

The start of the academic year saw the introduction of smarter uniforms, including blazers, for States high schools.

Previously only Grammar School and private school students were required to shirts, ties and blazers.

St Sampson's High School head teacher Annabel Bolt was delighted with the change.

'I am really pleased to see how smart all the pupils look, they are clearly taking much more pride in their appearance now.'
