SOME adults with disabilities will still be able to use The Croft respite centre into next year, Health and Social Services minister Hunter Adam has said.

'The Croft does not suddenly have to close to adults on 1 January; there will be room for flexibility for a few months,' Deputy Adam, pictured, said.

Carers had been told that The Croft would close to adult clients from 31 December.

A meeting was held on Tuesday evening to allow carers to voice their concerns as well as for the department to put forward alternative respite care options.

Deputy Adam said: 'I thought that the alternatives presented, which include care in the home, respite flats and a day service, were very impressive.'
