ISLAND HOSPITAL will show viewers just how good Guernsey's medical service is for a small island, staff featured in the new ITV1 show have said.

The first episode of the series, which follows some of the people and activities of the Princess Elizabeth Hospital, will be aired tonight at 8pm.

Featured in the programme is consultant orthopaedic surgeon David Pring, 61, pictured.

He said having a camera crew following him around had been a completely new experience.

'This really is a fantastic hospital,' he said. 'It has been seen in a negative light recently because of things happening in the financial sector,' he said.

'But this will be a great show because it will show people that Guernsey is not a money machine - it's a real island with real people and an extremely nice place to live and work.'
