GUERNSEY Police has pledged its support to the island's soon-to-be-constructed skatepark.

Neighbourhood officer PC Robert Dover gave the force's backing to the long-running Get On Board campaign for the state-of-the-art facility, launched by the Guernsey Xtreme Sports Association and supported by the Guernsey Press.

He said the new park at Beau Sejour would give the skater and BMXers somewhere to socialise and practise, without disturbing others at places such as Frossard House or Admiral Park.

'It is just somewhere this group can be,' he said. 'We have had calls before from members of the public over noise and they always move on. They probably don't realise how the noise travels.

'They never get in any trouble. All they want is a place they can go to. We cannot wait for this skatepark to open.'
