RESIDENTS claim to have been wiped off the map by Guernsey's new bus operator in an angry backlash to the new winter timetable.

Criticism of the removal of bus stops in the busy Route du Camp du Roi came amid growing fears that some of the changes could lead to a even greater fall in passenger numbers.

Environment minister Roger Domaille also voiced his disappointment about the newly released passenger figures, which showed an accelerated decline in journeys since CT Plus took over in April.

CT Plus, however, insisted its winter changes had been received well and blamed poor passenger numbers on a fall in visitors to the island.

I too opened up my Perry's Guide today and noticed that Camp Du Roi had completely vanished! Magic!

Passenger numbers drop due to a fall in visitor numbers... So they try to rectify the situation by cutting out bus stops. Am I missing something here?

It seems this company just lurches from one disaster to another.

Oh dear. Another mess we're in due to poor States decision making. This bus fiasco is going to cost us more than Island Coachways wanted to run the service. Can't we get anything right? Transport strategy...pahhhh

CT Plus Guernsey welcomes feedback to the new route plan and timetable. This can be sent to us by visiting the company's website - www.buses.gg - or telephoning the office on 700456. Many thanks!

Let's face CT Plus (or any other bus company for that matter) will always struggle over here. The small population and the sad fact that some people would only be happy if a bus stopped outside their front gate and took them wherever they wanted to go at any time means any bus service will always be lacking.

Don't mess the routes too much - get rid of the stupid large buses and get some smaller more Island friendly vehicles would be a better start

Toby

You mean door to door surly ?

I'm not walking all the way to the front gate ...

Something about the passenger numbers that noone seems to have noticed ....

The figures for last summer were on a reduced service ( caused by the "unforeseen" mechanical problems )

So CT Plus have managed to run more services than Coachways and still carry fewer passengers ...

Unless of course they were dropping services all over the place and failed to tell anyone ....

On a positive note, CT Plus have made the 08:18 route 4 out of town permenant and not just for school holidays. Good move.

I travelled on this route early this week, the driver was competent and friendly - actually he was the happiest looking person on the bus!

Some of the passengers barely even looked at him when they got on. Let's be honest - if that's what they get week in week out it's hardly surprising some of them end up looking miserable. How soul destroying is that.

Saying hello, cheerio and thank you are not difficult. If you want happy bus drivers, try being friendly - or at least polite.

I wish I could say something nice but all my buses have been late recently. 15-25 minutes on average for my usual after work bus. The bus I get to go down the bridge way has also been running late too. It's not on.
