A TEMPORARY steel support frame is to be installed at Guernsey Airport to mount one of the key navigation systems that was taken down while work started on a new section of the runway.

Public Services said the orange antennae that could previously be seen by La Mare Road was dismantled to allow work on the western end of the runway.

But airport director Colin Le Ray said for the efficient operation of the airport it was crucial the system was reactivated as soon as possible.

The final support frame will not be delivered for several weeks, thus the need for the temporary structure.
