GUERNSEY'S only landline provider has defended its reasons for imposing additional charges to some payment methods.

But Sure said it would support the regulator's consultation on fixed line billing practices.

The operator responded after the Channel Islands Competition and Regulatory Authorities (Cicra) announced it would investigate following customer complaints about changes to charges and late payment penalties.

Sure chief executive Eddie Saints, pictured, said the telecoms company was fully committed to participating and would 'ensure that it has the information it needs to reach an informed decision'.

'We have already provided Cicra with information that shows that the recently introduced charges only recover our costs and no more,' he said.
