FLIGHTS will run directly to Glasgow from Guernsey between June and September next year, if a licence is approved.

The Channel Islands Travel Group announced its plans for the route yesterday.

It wants to operate the two-hour long flights every Saturday using a 46-seat ATR-42.

They will depart Glasgow at 5.30pm and Guernsey from 3pm using an aircraft chartered from Blue Islands.

'It has been some years since Scottish visitors were able to travel directly to Guernsey and we believe that this new opportunity to visit the Bailiwick for a holiday and fly direct from Glasgow will prove very popular,' said managing director Robert Mackenzie.

Holidays will shortly be bookable through the group's website or via travel agents in the UK.
