Hospitality trade is the subject for skills workshop

HOSPITALITY experts and States officials have been brainstorming in a bid to showcase the career opportunities in the sector and make it more attractive to islanders.

During a Skills Guernsey workshop, the group came up with ideas such as placement schemes and information talks in school to raise the profile and career opportunities in the industry, which at present relies heavily on imported labour.

Skills Guernsey is a partnership between business and the States and aims to deliver the island's skills strategy.

This was the second of four workshops this year.

Chairwoman Dr Elaine Monkhouse said the ideas session had been very productive.
