A CASTEL resident is hoping Environment board members will do 'what is right for Cobo and for Guernsey' and reject an application to redevelop Hotel Les Carterets.

Dot Williams was speaking after planners announced they recommended permission be granted for the hotel to be demolished and replaced with 12 three-storey apartments.

Deputies on the Environment Department board will have the final say at an open planning meeting at Beau Sejour on Tuesday.

Mrs Williams, who has lived at Cobo for six years, has applied to speak at the meeting against the proposal.

Carterets Development Ltd applied to redevelop the site in February. Those original plans were criticised by neighbours who felt the building would be too intrusive.
