Two arrested in big finance swoop on Sark

A TEAM of 16 law enforcement officers led by the Guernsey Border Agency carried out a raid in Sark and arrested two island residents, the Guernsey Press can reveal.

Details of the operation, which took place last Monday, have only been confirmed today.

Investigators from the GBA's Financial Investigation Unit were joined by four Guernsey Police officers and the Sark Constable in executing a search warrant.

A man is due in court today charged with carrying on business activities in the Bailiwick without a fiduciary licence. The other person was released without charge following the raid.

GBA chief Rob Prow, pictured, said: 'Following a detailed and ongoing investigation led by the Financial Investigation Unit of the agency, and involving a number of jurisdictions including the US and UK, officers of the agency have arrested and subsequently charged a Sark resident with offences which are now before the courts in Guernsey.'
