ICE skaters took to the rink last night for the first time this December.

Around 120 islanders turned up in Market Square for the opening evening of the popular attraction.

First on the ice were a group of 10 children who had each won a pair tickets for them and a friend through the GP Ted page in the Guernsey Press.

And shortly after, members of the public were allowed to take their turn.

The rink very nearly did not go ahead because of a lack of funding but, thanks to support from Saffery Champness, it was saved.

  • The rink, which is also sponsored by JT and Roebuck Trading, is open until Monday 7 January.
