ARMED police officers arrested a local man after a dawn raid as part of an investigation into an air rifle shooting incident.

Chief Inspector Nigel Taylor, pictured, confirmed that the exercise took place at 5.20am yesterday at a property in Fosse Andre, St Peter Port.

'During the operation, a local man was arrested and evidence recovered which is linked to a recent incident where a serious injury was caused to another by the use of a high-powered air weapon,' he said.

'As the investigation is now progressing, it would be inappropriate for me to comment further at this stage.'

Guernsey Police would not confirm the number of officers deployed during the raid or the number of vehicles that attended.
